Professional Development for marginalized artists in Canada
Through the Roots Exchange Network platform secure exchanges, training and provide a facility with all the equipment and resources required to develop an Art or creative project. This facility will be 75% dedicated to support and uplift BIPOC artists.
Development of local partnerships
We aim to cultivate deeper partnerships with the City of Hamilton, local social, educational, and cultural groups, as well as strengthen our connections with other venue, music and arts festivals across Canada. Our goal is to establish a network of presenters who share our values for an exchange program. Additionally, securing corporate sponsorship for at least one of our signature events is a key priority.
Development of International Partnerships
We aim to secure a strategic Partnerships with International artists and arts organization across the globe whiling to collaborate with Canadian Artist.
Our Strategies
Create access
• Ensure that LGBTQ2S+ artists have access to performance opportunities and are actively included in the arts circuit in Hamilton and internationally, through our partnerships with local and global venues and schools.
• Create opportunities for newcomers, asylum seekers, and refugee claimants to engage with the arts and music.
• Increase access for artists with disabilities by providing a platform to showcase local and international talent, while fostering collaboration with other disabled artists and festivals that promote inclusivity worldwide.
• Introduce the ROOTS Creative Industry Talk Series, themed “The Power of Resilience: Thrive & Revive Together.”
• Offer free creative industry workshops led by experts to guide emerging artists through the steps necessary to create, develop, and sustain an arts organization and a career in the arts sector.
Audience& market development:
• Expand our community outreach activities, including school music and arts programs throughout the academic year.
• Enhance our public profile by actively participating in local arts events and engaging with social and cultural organizations within our community.
• Boost our marketing and social media efforts, in part by establishing long-term promotional partnerships.
• Offer a membership program with discounts for the public to support our activities at the Hub.
Financialself-sufficiency & sponsorships
• Secure a major sponsor with a long-term agreement for the Network and Hub.
• Obtain operating grants to support the Hub and the Network.
• Increase ad sales in our brochures and on our website.
• Engage in crowdfunding initiatives.
• Expand the number of food and craft vendors.
• Increase the number of ticketed events.
• Introduce the Roots Co-op BIPOC Record Label and Agency, focusing on connecting Canadian BIPOC artists with audiences in the Global South.
